Door Supervisor Top Up Course in Croydon
AIM
This program is for current Door Supervisors who will need to renew their licence on or after the 1st of October 2021. The course is aimed at Door Supervisors who completed their training before the 1st of April 2021 when the course content was upgraded. It is a new SIA requirement for all existing Door Supervisors to take this Top-Up course and an Emergency First Aid qualification if you do not already hold a relevant first aid certificate which is valid for at least 12 months.
WHAT THE COURSE IS ABOUT
This is a mandatory course for holders of SIA Door Supervisor licences and Door Supervisors looking to upgrade their knowledge and skills for their job roles. The SIA requires All Door Supervisor Licence holders to have completed this Top-Up course and an appropriate First Aid qualification to renew their licence from the 1st of October. It is therefore important to note that, all DS professionals currently working in the private security sector are to register for the course beforehand to enable them to renew their SIA license to work.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have the following requirements before taking the course:
- 18 years +
- Learners must have achieved Level 3 RQF/QCF Level 6 SCQF Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification or equivalent.
- First Aid Qualification must be valid for at least 12 months from the start date of the course.
- Learners must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Any SIA Door Supervisor licence holders applying to renew their licence after the 1st of October 2021 who were trained before 1st April 2021.
- Anyone applying for an SIA Door Supervisors licence after the 1st of October holding DS qualification which was obtained before 1st April 2021.
MODULES
- Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry.
The learner will be able to find and recognise terror threats, common methods of attack, procedures for dealing with suspicious items, identification of suspicious behaviour, and how to respond accordingly.
- Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry.
The learner will be able to recognise equipment used to manage venue ability and different PPE relevant to a Door Supervisors role. The learner will also be able to find how to communicate effectively and prove the use of communication devices.
- Application of Physical Intervention skills in the Private Security Industry.
The learner will understand the implications and risks involved in physical intervention as well as how to use physical skills to protect themselves and others. As well as non-pain compliant standing, holding, and escorting techniques.
ASSESSMENT FOR SIA TOP-UP TRAINING
Candidates will have to take a final exam for their assessments after the training. There will be 3 different test papers on the exam day, 2 of the tests have a pass mark of 80% and the last one has a pass mark of 70% respectively. The practical test will be focussed on candidate demonstration of Skills and be assessed by the tutor.
The assessment will be based on the following:
- Multiple-choice exams
- Oral Questions and Answers discussion
- Practical Demonstration with instructor observation
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a Level 2 Award for Door Supervisors in the Private Security Industry Top-Up.
COURSE DURATION
This course has a mandatory duration of 2 days.
There is a total of 3.5 hours in which candidates will work on self-study materials and e-learning units alone using course handbooks, our learning platform academy.bridgetraininguk.co.uk, and the websites provided before the course starts.

What is the SIA Top-Up training 2021?
