This SIA course is aimed at those seeking to work as door supervisors in the private security industry in;

What this course is about:
A licence is required if manned guarding activities are undertaken in relation to licensed premises. Licensed premises are those open to the public at times when alcohol is being supplied for consumption, or regulated entertainment is being provided.
Who this course is for/ entry requirements:
- 18 years +
- The learner must have achieved Level 3 RQF/QCF Level 6 SCQF Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification or equivalent.
- First Aid Qualification must be valid for at least 12 months from the start date of the course.
- A learner must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- UK Nationals: Passport and/ or Driving Licence and 2 proofs of address (not older than 3 months)
- Non-UK/EU Nationals: Passport/Home Office Documents. 2 proofs of address (not older than 3 months)

This is an essential qualification for:
- Any SIA Door Supervisor license holders applying to renew their licence after the 1st of October 2021 who were trained before April 1st, 2021.
- Anyone applying for an SIA Door Supervisors license after the 1st of October holding a Door Supervisors qualification from before April 1st, 2021.
Door Supervisors Units:
- Principles of Working In The Private Security Industry
The learner will understand the main characteristics and purpose of private security and the legislation, procedures and safe working practices involved.
- Principles of Working As A DS In The Private Security Industry
The learner will understand the role of a supervisor as far as legislation, employee responsibilities and venue management.
- Application of Conflict Management In The Private Security Industry
The learner will understand how to assess and reduce risk in conflict situations using problem-solving techniques to de-escalate.
- Application of Physical Intervention Skills In The Private Security Industry
The learner will understand the implications and risks involved in physical intervention as well as how to use physical skills to protect themselves and others. As well as non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques.
Assessment and Qualification:
Learners will be assessed using multiple-choice question papers a portfolio of work and practical observation. There are 4 test papers, 3 of which have a pass mark of 70% and the last with a pass mark of 80%. The practical sections will consist of candidate demonstrations of skills and be assessed by a tutor.
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a Level 2 Award for course in the Private Security Industry.
How long this course is:
This course has a duration of 6 days of learning with the tutor from 9 am to 6 pm.
There are 8 self-study hours in which candidates will work alone at home to complete a unit using course handbooks and the Bridge Training Learning Platform (LMS).
