The learner will understand the purpose and characteristics of the private security industry, understanding safe working practices as well as procedures relevant to arrest, fire, and emergencies.
The learner will also understand the responsibilities of a security operative as far as looking after vulnerable people, record keeping, terror threats, and post-incident management.
Principles Of Working As A Security Officer In The Private Security Industry
The learner will understand the roles and responsibilities of security officers, how to minimise risk to personal safety, and patrolling designated areas safely. Learners will also understand different types of electronic and physical protection systems, drug-misuse legislation, issues and procedures, and how to conduct effective search procedures.
Application Of Conflict Management In The Private Security Industry
The learner will understand the principles of conflict management, how to recognise,
assess and reduce risk in conflict situations. The learner will understand the use of problem-solving
techniques when resolving conflict and be able to communicate to de-escalate.
Assessment for Security Officer
Learners will be assessed using multiple-choice question papers a portfolio of work and practical observation. There are 3 test papers, all of which have a pass mark of 70%. The practical sections will consist of candidate demonstrations of skills and be assessed by a tutor.
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a Level 2 Award for Security Officers within the Private Security Industry.

If you would like to work as Security officers in the UK, then this course is for you. When you complete this course, you will be able to apply for Security Guard roles in the Security Industry. It is important to be aware that with this qualification you will not be allowed to work as a Door Supervisor because physical intervention is not taught in this course.
What is the aim of the course?
The aim of this course is to achieve a Level 2 Award in Security Guarding. When you have gained this, you will be eligible to apply for a Security Guard SIA licence. To work as an SIA Door Supervisor or an SIA Security Guard in the UK you must hold a valid SIA licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

This Security Guard course is for new entrants into the Security Industry who are looking to gain employment as Security Guards in premises such a shopping centres, retail centres, and airports. You must successfully complete this course to be able to apply for an SIA licence in Security Guarding.
