Description

First Aid at work in Croydon course (FAW)

This qualification is aimed at those undertaking the role of a first aider in the workplace.
The qualification meets the requirements for First Aid at Work as outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid)
Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety.  Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Your First Aid Training courses will be prepared according to your organisation’s individual risk assessment and will offer a highly practical, hands-on approach. Course content will take place over three days and will include how to handle injuries and emergencies, such as managing catastrophic bleeding or choking, looking after an unresponsive patient, and administering CPR. You will also learn how to record accidents and incidents of ill health or medical emergencies, and how and when to notify the authorities of illnesses or disease outbreaks at work.

Our course covers the content specified by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Course Assessments

This Training Course is assessed in 2 parts.

1. Continuous assessment

This is where your class trainer will observe your class participation to ensure your knowledge is at the required level.

2. Written assessments

Written assessments can vary for the FAW Course depending on your training provider. Typically, these exams are for each of the core unit areas and will be multiple choice. They can either fall at the end of the course, on the final day, or be spread out.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is suitable for people and businesses who wish to learn new skills or refresh their existing first aid skills. No previous qualifications are needed to take this course as all the basic first aid techniques are covered throughout the training.

This course is best suited to low-risk workplaces (such as offices, shops, and restaurants) where a qualified first aider is not required according to the risk assessment. It’s considered best practice for all employees to be provided with first aid knowledge, particularly those who are in charge of first-aid arrangements, and this course satisfies that requirement.

Certificates are valid for three years from the date of issue or previous expiry date for requalification courses. HSE has introduced a strong recommendation that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training during any First Aid at work certification period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to procedures.

Renewal of First Aid at Work

To renew your FAW Certificate once it has expired after 3 years, you will need to take Refresher training. FAW Refresher Training takes 2 days (as opposed to the 3 days required for the original FAW Training Course).

Refresher Training is an important part of keeping your skills current and making sure that you are aware of new techniques and advancements that will help with providing more effective treatment.

Since your renewed First Aid at Work Certificate is part of the Refresher Training Course, its cost is factored into the price of the extra training.
