Description

Personal Licence Training Course

The APLH Personal Licence course is a statutory requirement for people involved in the sale of alcohol. It ensures people do so responsibly, as well as maintain standards to minimise alcohol abuse.

The APLH course and licence give you the qualifications to sell alcohol legally and safely. By training for and securing your licence, you’ll help create a safe environment for your customers, employees, and co-workers. The course is designed to ensure that anyone involved in the sale or supply of alcohol is aware of their responsibilities under the 2003 Licensing Act and provides them with the ability to understand and implement the requirements of the Act.

Under the 2003 act, anyone involved in the sale or supply of alcohol must retail the alcohol in a safe and responsible manner and conduct these sales whilst promoting the 4 licensing objectives contained within the act (5 licensing objectives in Scotland).

We can facilitate the CSCS Labourer’s Green Card test at your premises or ours without delivering the full course at your convenience. This is ideal for candidates who have already undergone training and are now ready to take the test and gain their qualification.

The Personal Licence allows holders to authorise the sale of alcohol at licensed premises. The Personal Licence is typically for those who work in the hospitality industry, like bar staff and event managers.

Course runs every day of the week Monday to Friday. Order your training and one of our sales

How long is the Personal Licence valid for?

All personal licences issued after 1st April 2015 are valid indefinitely unless they’re cancelled, forfeited or surrendered.

Why do I need a Licence?

You need a personal licence to authorise the sale or supply of alcohol under The Licensing Act 2003.

How can I get my Personal Licence?

To get your personal licence, the first step is to attend and pass the 1-day personal licence course. Once you pass and receive your certificate, you can apply via your local licensing authority (which is usually your local council).

How is the Licence assessed?

At the end of the course, you’ll sit a 40-question multiple-choice exam. The questions go over all the knowledge you learned in the course.

When will I receive my certificate?

Certificates are dispatched within a week after you successfully finish your course. They’re sent via Royal Mail. We aim to post your certificate within 2 days after receiving it from your training provider.

We will send you an email once we have dispatched your certificate. If you opted for Secured Delivery, your certificate will be posted with a service requiring your signature

Do I need a licence for temporary work?

No. If you’re arranging a temporary event, such as a festival, and there’ll be alcohol sold and regulated entertainment happening, you need to apply for a Temporary Event Notice (also commonly referred to as a TEN).

To find out more about authorising the sale of alcohol without a Personal Licence during a temporary event, please contact your local council.
