To work as a security officer in the UK, you are required by law to have an SIA licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). One of the requirements of the SIA licence is that you attend an approved training course and acquire a recognised national qualification.
The training course is held over 4 days, with 38 hours of tuition. The examination consists of 4 sets of multiple choice questions.

The security guarding officer licence allows you to work in retail and corporate security. You are not required to undertake the physical intervention skills training as part of the security guard but you can do it if you which to enhance your skills.
The Door Supervisor Licence allows you to take up all the roles in security. You are also required to be trained in physical intervention skill which is essential if you work in security. This makes door supervisor course more valuable.
Yes. You can work as a Security Guard if you hold a Door Supervisor Licence, but however you will not be allowed to work as a Door Supervisor if you hold a security Guard licence.
Results are available within 5 -10 working days and the certification is available for collection within 10 – 15 working days upon success in the test.
Courses are held on weekdays, weekends and flexible arrangements based on individual availability.
Yes. Women can be security officers and do undertake the same course training.
